Spring or Summer Spritz Party

Happy 27th Birthday to Claire! In celebration of her birthday, we had a delightful  dinner at our house and the inspiration for the party was the Aperol Spritz cocktail! This is a fun party that could be used for any occasion this spring or summer. My Mom paired the orange with light blue and the result was a cheerful, eye-popping table and party.
The first thing she made was the balloon display using a set of different sized balloons from Amazon. She attached the first balloonscape from the floor up to the mantel and then tucked faux oranges into the arrangement.

After the bar cart was placed, she added another balloon cluster above the cart and added the faux oranges to that as well. The bar cart was adorned with fun spritz glasses, orange and white paper straws, orange gingham napkins, Aperol, champagne and club soda. She also found a downloadable sign on Etsy with the recipe for an Aperol Spritz. It looked darling printed and placed in a silver frame by the bar cart.

The table was set with a white tablecloth and a light blue linen runner and matching napkins. In addition to light blue and orange, we added silver accents - candelabra on the table with light blue candlesticks, a silver box on the mantel with faux oranges, a silver box on the bar cart to hold the paper napkins, and footed silver candy dishes with clementines.

Once the runner and candelabra were in place, my Mom started layering faux oranges on the runner and then adding real flowers. She ordered two flower arrangements with predominantly orange flowers. One order was from Urban Stems and the other was from Farm Girl Flowers. She placed orange tulips and ranunculus in vases from the grocery store as well.

She sliced about five naval oranges in half and five clementine oranges in half and nestled those in the flowers on the runner. The pale blue dinner plates had a pretty texture to them and looked lovely with our sterling silverware. She folded each napkin on the diagonal, rolled the napkin and then tied it in a loose knot. The napkins looked pretty placed on the side of each plate with a place card tucked inside.
Another festive touch when planning a birthday party - have the wrapping paper coordinate with the theme! One wrapping paper was a small reversible roll of light blue and white polka dot paper. She also purchased a pack of six wrapping sheets with oranges on it. The pack also came with matching gift tags that my Mom used for the place cards on the table. Each present was tied with either light blue moiré ribbon or white satin. She even added a footed silver dish with clementines.

My Mom placed a sheet of the orange wrapping paper on the coffee table with the cheese board on top. It is fun to tie in the details in other rooms of the house if you can. She placed the ranunculus in a white vase on the coffee table and added a faux hydrangea to fill out the vase.

The menu was delicious! The apricot chicken is one of our family's favorite recipes from my Grandma. It is really simple to make and it fit in with the orange color scheme. We also had a mandarin orange salad, rice and broccoli.
For dessert, we had five pints of ice cream from our local favorite ice cream shop. We served the pints on a silver tray with a scoop. We have beautiful footed glass dessert bowls and they were perfect for the birthday celebration!
Claire, my Mom and I coordinated our outfits with the theme and I wore a light blue sweater set and white pants with my silver slingback shoes. My Mom had pretty light blue coated Lagence pants and a light blue Naadam sweater. The birthday girl wore a lovely orange dress!
