New York City for the Day!

My family and I spent a spring day in New York City and I thought I would share our delightful adventure. Before we went, we checked the weather and knew that it was going to be a perfect, warm spring day in the city. We wanted to be outside and walk everywhere.
Upon arrival, we went straight to Sarabeth’s at 40 Central Park South for brunch. There are five Sarabeth locations around the city, but we chose the one near Central Park. My Mom made a reservation and we started our day Busy Brunching!
After brunch, we walked to the square in front of the Plaza Hotel. The trees were in full bloom! We walked through Bergdorf Goodman, one of our all time favorite department stores and enjoyed checking out the spring fashions. We all admired the bright colors throughout the many floors.
From Bergdorf Goodman, we walked through Central Park. Every tree and flower was in bloom and we felt like we were in a movie! Central Park was beautiful and full of people happy to be outside. We spent a majority of our time walking through the park, then exiting and walking up Madison Avenue. Our first stop was Ralph’s Coffee.
Our good friend John attends Fordham University and he met us at Ralph’s Coffee for a mid-day break! Ralph’s is located in the Ralph Lauren store at 888 Madison Avenue and is a really fun little coffee shop. They have outdoor tables, yummy treats and delicious coffee. We had a great time catching up with John.
We were not hungry, but another good stop about a block away from Ralph’s Coffee is Laduree at 864 Madison Avenue. It is fun to stop and get a sweet treat. We continued up Madison Avenue with our end goal being the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Along the way we walked up and down the beautiful side streets and admired the homes. We stopped in stores along Madison Avenue.
Our plan had been to find the top five or ten Metropolitan Museum of Art pieces of artwork, but the museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Instead, we sat on the steps, talked and soaked in the beautiful weather.
We originally had late afternoon reservations at Sant Ambroeus at 1000 Madison Avenue. There are number of locations around the city and even in Palm Beach, but The Mark hotel caught our eye on Madison Avenue at 77th Street with a charming outdoor dining set up. We had a yummy early dinner inside the restaurant.
We headed back to Central Park and walked by the the Loeb Boathouse and watched the boaters rowing around the lake. We took a long route through Central Park back to our starting point and headed to the airport.
Our day in NYC was spontaneous and one that our family will always remember. We were glad that we narrowed down what area of the city we wanted to visit and mapped out our plan. We wanted to have layers, be comfortable, but also look sharp! Our outfits were spot on for the weather and all the walking. It was so good to be in New York City in the spring!
